Aya College part of Sankofa Care is a small and dedicated Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) school, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for young people to learn and thrive. Part-time, 4 to 5 hours per day (Monday to Friday)

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Cook to join our team and prepare fresh, wholesome meals for our students and staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals for lunchtime service, catering to a variety of dietary needs, including allergies, cultural requirements, and preferences.

•Work effectively to ensure meals are prepared and served on time, adhering to the lunch schedule.

•Plan and prepare menus in line with school nutritional guidelines, ensuring meals meet the needs of children with SEBD.

•Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with food hygiene and health and safety standards.

•Manage stock levels, assist with food ordering, and ensure minimal food waste.

•Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure smooth and efficient meal service.

•Engage positively with staff and students to foster a welcoming and inclusive dining experience.

 

Person Specification:

 

Essential:

 

•Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a school, care setting, or similar environment.

•A good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety regulations, and dietary requirements.

•The ability to prepare healthy, nutritious meals that cater to a range of needs, including allergies and special diets.

•Strong organisational and time management skills to ensure efficient service within tight schedules.

•Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work closely with staff and students in a small, supportive school environment.

•A positive and patient approach to working with young people, particularly those with SEBD.

•A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
