Delivered in partnership with Willmott Dixon, Building Lives Academy provides participants with the skills and qualifications to progress into an apprenticeship, job or higher-level training in construction.
The 4-week intensive training course will support people in gaining the knowledge and confidence to get into work through training, work experience and a guaranteed interview.
Course Title: Willmott Dixon Building Lives Academy – a Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP)
Location: John Ruskin College, Selsdon Park Road, South Croydon CR2 8JJ
Start date: Monday 22nd September (Introduction Thursday 18th September)
Days and times: Weeks 1-2: 5 days a week (Mon-Fri), 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. Week 3-4: 3 days a week (Tues – Thurs), 09:30 am -2:30 pm
Qualifications:
- Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
- CITB Health, Safety & Environment for Operatives
The following items can also be provided:
- PPE Boots (JCP)
- Hard hats & high-vis vests (Willmott Dixon)

Eligibility:
- Adults who are 19+ as of 31/08/2025.
- Resident of Croydon
- Right to Work in the UK.
- Fully funded for individuals who are unemployed (will need proof of means-tested benefit) or on low income (less than £27,000 per annum, 3-months payslips needed)
- Must be able to attend the induction session on Thursday 18th September
